When I arrived in the United States, the first thing that impressed me was seeing through the window of the plane how big Las Vegas is. Since I'm not used to living in such a big city. When I first entered CSN I was nervous because I had to go talk to my academic advisor the next day after my arrival. I had not yet been able to adapt to always having to communicate in English, but luckily I did well and I really liked the attention of the people who work at CSN.
I hope you are becoming more comfortable living in Las Vegas and attending CSN. Glad you really liked the attention of the people who at CSN :-)
ReplyDeleteI can related. I came to the U.S., Las Vegas specifically, when I was ten years old. Didn't speak English. With constant practice and effort to communicate in English, you will succeed in adapting!
Welcome to IS101-3003, Fall 2023, Valeria ^_^
It's so exciting that you're both living in a new city and attending a new school at the same time. I'm sure you'll find some nice people to help make your new life easier.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Valeria. I also moved to the US after living in a different country; English was my second language too. It will get easier, I can promise you that. Soon enough you will look back and feel proud of your accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it must've been scary and nerve wracking to have to adapt so quickly to your new life in the US. I'm glad that you felt welcomed by the school and their staff.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that you are adjusting well to your new life here in America and at CSN. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how nerve-racking it was to have to adjust to such a big city. It's great to hear that you're adjusting well. Before you know it you'll know the city like the back of your hand!
ReplyDeleteI also felt the same way when I looked through the airplane's window and see Las Vegas for the first time. It was very exciting. It could be tough to adjust for awhile, but it will get better with time.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that you aren't from the states. I hope you enjoy it here!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you not from the states is pretty cool because If you want you can share your culture with us, because I really like to know more about other cultures.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel because when I myself moved to Vegas saw the light, I was very impressed. I am to hear that you like CSN as well.
ReplyDeleteJudging by your post, I would say you have adapted very well. How long ago did you arrive to Vegas? Welcome! It is amazing to hear when students come from a familiar place to an unfamiliar one. I find that thought very frightening having lived here all my life. You definitely encouraged me to go more out of my comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and welcome to the USA! I hope you find your experience not only in college, but in all parts of your life out here, enjoyable and friendly.
ReplyDeleteThat is super cool that you moved here instead of any other state. I hope you enjoy it here!
ReplyDeleteI understand how you felt on seeing academic advisor or enrolling in college in different country is really scary and makes you feel like you don't know how it'll go but I'm glad that you get to have your school life successfully.
